Star Trek Writers Kurtzman And Orci Give Update On Sequel Script

Star Trek movies haven't had the greatest track record, so it was quite amazing how entertaining J.J. Abrams' reboot really was. A lot of that credit belongs to writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, who not only did their research into the mythology, but scripted an action-packed and fun time at the movies. It's been known for a while that the pair would return for the sequel (as in before Star Trek was even released), but it has been awhile since we've last gotten an update. Enter TrekMovie.com.

The site recently caught up with the writers to discuss how the sequel was coming along and the pair was more than happy to dish some details:

  • Apparently the script has not yet been written, but they do have a story. The next step in the process, according to the pair is to "get together and try to destroy it," making sure that it will stand up to scrutiny.
  • They have a "front-runner" for the film's main baddie, but they were unwilling to say more
  • Damon Lindelof, the producer of the first film, will be coming in to work on the script next week, at which time they will start "diving in."

Come on, guys! We want more Star Trek! While we wait patiently for them to get to work - I'll be off meditating in a corner until the film is officially in production - you can check out the full interview with the writers over at TrekMovie.com.
