The Best Of Star Trek – Volume Two

Four “best of” episodes have been announced for The Best of Star Trek – Volume Two. Two of the episodes are from the first season of the original series; Where No Man Has Gone Before and Space Seed.

In Where No Man Has Gone Before, after going through an energy barrier at the edge of the galaxy, Kirk and crew have to deal with the godlike powers acquired by Kirk’s good friend Gary Mitchell and stop him from destroying them.

Space Seed tells the story of the discovery of a sleeper ship, the Botany Bay, and its crew of genetically engineered supermen, including leader Khan Noonien Singh, who once conquered a quarter of the Earth and who takes over the Enterprise.

Two episodes are from the second season of the original series; A Piece of the Action and Journey To Babel.

In A Piece of the Action, a chance book on the Chicago Mob left behind by a Federation starship a hundred years before influences the people of Sigma Iotia II who set up their own gangster society. Kirk and Spock are taken prisoner by one of the mob leaders and have escape as well as figure out how to stop the fighting amongst the various planetary factions.

In Journey To Babel, the Enterprise transports ambassadors to the Babel Conference, but problems arise when the murder of Tellarite Ambassador Gav occurs. Spock’s father Ambassador Sarek, en route to the conference, is a suspect in the murder.

Star Trek Coming to Redbox

Customers of Redbox, the dollar per night rental service, will soon be able to rent Paramount DVDs.

Paramount Home Entertainment Inc. (PHE) and Redbox Automated Retail, LLC (Redbox), announced that they have entered into a trial license program that will provide Redbox access to Paramount Pictures DVD releases through the end of 2009.

“This agreement is a positive step with Paramount,” said Mitch Lowe, Redbox president. “The agreement ensures that our customers will have increased access to some of the biggest titles of the year.”

After the four-month trial period, PHE may extend the program to 2014, with an “out” clause after two years.

Redbox kiosks are found in McDonald’s outlets and other retail outlets such as convenience and grocery stores and Walmart.

Star Trek's Wil Wheaton Geeks Out in Leverage

Wil Wheaton says, "Don't be a dick!"

But really, no word better describes Chaos, the cunning computer hacker Wil plays in Wednesday's episode of Leverage. In "The Two Live Crew Job," Wheaton faces off against techno-wizard (and self-professed Star Trek fan) Hardison (Aldis Hodge). Actually, each member of the Leverage team confronts their bizarro-world counterparts in a good vs. evil art heist.

Wil Wheaton on Leverage and Star Trek: "Hardison makes Star Trek jokes all the time and nobody gets them. It just happened to be a cool bit of additional meta-humor that I get to be the guy they call Kobayashi Maru—which, I gotta tell you, kind of made me feel cool for about five minutes."

Wil Wheaton on a Possible Chaos Comeback: "If the opportunity were to arise, the amount of time that it would take for me to say yes would be directly related to how long it took me to open up my email and type three letters."

Wil Wheaton on Wil vs. Chaos: "I would consider myself an early adopter of a lot of the Internet technologies that a lot of people take for granted these days. I love my computer. I love the Internet. I absolutely love technology, and it's still a very, very big part of my life."

Wil Wheaton on Chaos vs. Hardison: "If you ask Chaos, he would tell you Hardison dreams of one day being half as competent and skilled and accomplished as he is. If you asked Hardison, he would [say] it's just adorable that Chaos holds this opinion of himself."

"[Hardison and Chaos] are not very different from the—computer enthusiasts, we'll say, that I've known throughout my life. If you spend any time online and you are part of this culture, of course you know a guy like Hardison. He may not be [remotely manipulating] motion sensors and bank accounts, but he is certainly sitting there quoting the crap out of obscure sci-fi movies and then being like physically wounded when nobody gets it. I think I may have been that guy from time to time."

Wil Wheaton on Geek Love: "Growing up, [I thought] I was the only kid on my block and in my school that was into Star Trek. I was really a geek. I had a pop-up book about how computers work, [and] carried the thing with me everywhere I went and pretended that it was a laptop—before laptops existed. You know, one of the reasons I love going to science fiction conventions and comic conventions is because I can find other people who are just like me and we are in an environment where not only is it OK to dress up in a costume, but you want to impress people with how hard you worked to put the thing together—and that’s awesome."

Pine on Future of 'Star Trek'

Chris Pine chatted about the potential "Star Trek" sequel and what's next for the rising star!

"Star Trek" has grossed over $380,000,000 worldwide and there are rumors about a sequel. "They want to get stuff going for 2011, so I don't know if that means we'll shoot next year or what, but I haven't heard anything one way or the other," Pine dished to the Los Angeles Times.

When asked if the whole cast would return, Chris answered, "As far as I know, yeah."

The 28-year-old stud starts shooting the thriller "Unstoppable" this fall. He says, "To be doing a movie with Denzel Washington and Tony Scott is like a kid's dream." Pine adds, "I've watched and been a fan of both of theirs for as long as I can remember."

Star Trek’ strikes the town

The latest sci-fi movie ‘Star Trek’ directed by J. J. Abrams is now being screened at the Majestic Cinema Colombo.

The eleventh film based on the Star Trek franchise, features the main characters of the original Star Trek television series who are portrayed by John Cho, Ben Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Winona Ryder, Zoë Saldana, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, Eric Bana and Leonard Nimoy.

STAR TREK' ACTOR KARL URBAN SINKS HIS TEETH INTO 'PRIEST'

LOCATION: A world where man and vampires are at war

THE SKINNY: As if Karl Urban didn't already rack up enough geek cred by starring in STAR TREK, his next role involves VAMPIRES. (Yes, this was what he had been referring to in this clip...)

Urban has landed the villain role in Scott Stewart's comic adaptation PRIEST. The horror thriller will star Paul Bettany as a warrior priest who tracks down a band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece. Urban will be playing Black Hat, the evil leader of the vampires.

TWILIGHT actor Cam Gigandet and Maggie Q are also along to help defeat the vampires.
