Anton Yelchin, lately seen as Chekov in Star Trek and as Kyle Reese in Terminator Salvation, will co-star with Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster in the upcoming comedy The Beaver.
Foster is also directing the film, which Variety describes as an "indie dark comedy." Gibson plays a depressed guy who takes comfort by adopting a beaver hand-puppet, while Foster plays his wife; the baby-faced Yelchin will take the role of the son of Gibson's and Foster's characters who wants his mom to get a divorce.
The script is by Kyle Killen, and was at the top of the famous-in-screenwriting-circles Blacklist back in December। Summit Entertainment has a fourth quarter 2010 or early 2011 release planned for the film.
