Star Trek Casting Director nominated for Artios Award

Casting directors from films such as “The Dark Knight,” “Star Trek,” “Tropic Thunder” and “Changeling” are among the nominees for top honors at tonight's presentation of the Casting Society of America's 25th annual Artios Awards.The awards, which recognize originality, creativity and the contribution of casting to the overall quality of a project, will be presented at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza hotel. Another awards ceremony will be held simultaneously in New York.

Casting directors for the films “Changeling,” “The Dark Knight,” “Duplicity,” “Star Trek” and “State of Play” are nominated in the drama film category. In the comedy film category, the nominees are the casting
directors from “Burn After Reading,” “Confessions of a Shopaholic,” “Get Smart,” “Tropic Thunder” and “Yes Man.”

In addition to the film, television and theater categories, several special achievement awards will be handed out to casting directors.

Laura Ziskin (“Spider-Man,” “Pretty Woman”) will receive a career achievement award and John Frank Levey (“ER,” “Southland”) will receive the Hoyt Bowers Award.

Among the celebrities scheduled to be presenters at the ceremony are Allison Janney, Lauren Graham, Ray Liotta, Taye Diggs, Ken Jeong, Keke Palmer and Jim Parsons.
