Star Trek Fights Harry Potter for Best Trailer Trophy

Who’s got the summer’s best movie teaser? Star Trek takes on Terminator Salvation and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince for that distinction at Thursday night’s Golden Trailer Awards. The Los Angeles event, judged by a panel including actress Rosario Dawson, writer-director Paul Feig (TV’s Arrested Development, The Office) and Oscar-winning German producer Max Wiedemann (The Lives of Others), honors the art and craft of making crappy movies look good and good movies look great, in two and a half minutes or less.

The group also passes out a “Golden Fleece” trophy to “the best trailer for the worst movie.” This year’s contenders include The Spirit and The Uninvited.

“In the 10 years since we established these awards, trailers themselves have emerged worldwide as one of the most popular categories of online streaming video and are viewed as a form of entertainment in and of themselves,” says GTA co-founder Evelyn Brady-Watters.
