Director J.J. Abrams does a fanastic job making the film not only enjoyable for fans but also for newcomers.
"Star Trek" climbs it way to number three in the box office. Director J.J. Abrams, who also directed the movie, "Mission: Impossible III" and TV shows, "Lost" and "Alias," satisfies Star Trek fans by keeping close to the story line, even though it starts with a completely new space adventure. The film has a really strong new casting crew, which really brought out the dynamics and friendship between Mr. Spock and Captain Kirk.
Mr. Spock is played by Zachary Quinto, who also starred in the Fox drama show "24" and "Joan of Arcadia." As difficult it may seem, Mr. Spock was able to convey great internal conflict without breaking character. Chris Pine, who also starred in "Just My Luck, Smokin’ Aces" and "The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement," made a perfect performance as lead role, Captain Kirk.
Besides Spock and Kirk, there are numerous side characters in the film the Abrams takes the time to satisfy both newcomers and die-hard fans of Star Trek with stock character screen time and background. Abrams maintains the momentum of an action film while delivering a well developed story line. You didn’t have to be a “Trekie” to enjoy it.
