If you're eager to get to exploring strange new worlds, you can now enter name for consideration for the Star Trek Online beta. Cryptic is now taking applications for the closed beta, for which a date has not yet been disclosed.
To sign up, just go to the official site, create an account and fill out the appropriate form. Alternatively, you can buy a six-month subscription for Champions Online, which will automatically reserve you a spot in the beta. It all depends on how desperate you are to get to battling Klingons.
If you do get into the beta, it'll make for a nice opportunity to see how the concept pans out. At the moment, Cryptic is mostly focusing on finishing up Champions Online, so details have been somewhat slow to appear.
The closed beta should begin sometime this year. The game itself is expect to launch on PC sometime in 2010.
