On Tuesday, developer Cryptic Studios launched the online beta for the Star Trek Online.
The beta test for the MMO runs through January 26. Two weeks later, on February 2, the game will be officially released. So consider this more of a invite-only open house.
To play in the beta, gamers will need a valid beta key. Go to the official beta website for a list of places that are handing them out. There, you’ll also find links to the many places hosting the beta client’s 7.6 gigabyte file.
I started the torrent yesterday afternoon and just finished downloading the file this morning. Plan accordingly if you’re hoping to spend the weekend trying out Star Trek Online. It would be a shame to spend half of your planned gaming time watching a little bar grow.
