The American Cinema Editor’s 60th Annual ACE Eddie Awards were announced last night and Star Trek XI is included on the list of nominees.
Science fiction films made up three of the five nominees in the “Best Edited Feature Film – Dramatic” category.
The five nominees are:
- Star Trek XI – Maryann Brandon, Mary Jo Markey
- Avatar – Stephen Rivkin, John Refoua, James Cameron
- District 9, Julian Clarke
- The Hurt Locker – Bob Murawski, Chris Innis
- Up In The Air – Dana Glauberman
Winners of the ACE awards will be announced on February 14 in a ceremony to be held at the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
In other award news, Star Trek XI won a “Golden Tomato” award from Rotten Tomatoes, an aggregator film review site, in their 11th Annual Gold Tomato Awards.
At Rotten Tomatoes, films are ranked according to “Tomatometer” scores, which are based on published opinions of over two hundred top film critics.
Star Trek XI won the Golden tomato in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy category, with a 94% ranking. According to the description of the film, “Star Trek reignites a classic franchise with action, humor, a strong story, and brilliant visuals, and will please traditional Trekkies and new fans alike.”
