Star Trek Blu-ray sales beam up at retail

Advanced sales for Paramount Pictures' Star Trek Blu-ray disc beamed up at retailer Amazon.com this week.
The Star Trek Three Disc + Digital Copy Blu-ray SKU held a 466 percent sales increase to rank as the No. 3 best-selling title in Amazon's Blu-ray division.

The set currently holds a pre-order price of $27.99, down from the $39.99 MSRP.

It will be released on Nov. 17.

Released in May 2009, Star Trek generated $379 million worldwide box office ticket sales.

Amazon this week began holding a new Blu-ray box set sale in the latest high-definition promotion.

The new sale discounts a total of 16 Blu-ray box set titles, including Planet Earth at $45.49, Band of Brothers at $45.99, and True Blood: The Complete First Season at $44.99.

Additionally, this month it discounted the Casino Royale Blu-ray Two-Disc Collector's Edition to $12.99.
